ShareHouse began in April of 2012 when two South Riding moms, Shellie Brown and Brynn Hansen, decided to collect a few outgrown, gently worn clothes and household items among themselves and their friends and start a monthly exchange. As ShareHouse grew and changed hands, it became apparent of how many families benefited from this type of support. With the guidance and assistance of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, numerous Volunteers that worked tirelessly, a Community that continuously donated their gently used clothing, and generous Supporters that donated much-needed funds to keep us afloat, ShareHouse became a serviceable to provide FREE clothing and shoes to struggling families. In 2016 ShareHouse was excited to become a federally tax-exempt organization as described in IRS code 501(c)(3).
ShareHouse is a multi-faith free distribution service. Using a voucher system, ShareHouse provides gently used clothing and shoes free to families that need extra community support.
Currently, ShareHouse offers services to those in need within Fairfax and Loudoun County.
